- Matthew Quinn
Matthew Quinn was born and brought up in Oldham Lancashire before attending the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. He left the Army in the mid nineties and began his civilian life in the motor trade. After deciding that he had reached his peak as business manager in the flagship Mercedes Benz dealership in London’s Park Lane at the age of 27, Matthew went on to be a senior consultant for one of Europe’s largest management consultancies. For 5 years he travelled extensively around the world selling, designing and delivering high impact sales and sales management programmes for many businesses, most notably in the oil, entertainment and fast moving consumer goods industries. He then moved back into the field of sales leadership in the financial services and professional practices profession.
A few years ago Matthew left his position as head of business development and sales for a major national professional practices firm to set up Future Sales Factory in order to achieve his objective of increasing the standard of sales and business development skills on a national and industry wide basis. In every project, Matthew draws on the lessons learned in all the sales areas in which he has worked, as well as leadership and management lessons learned in the forces.
With one book already published; “How to Survive the Apprentice” (which covers the formulaic way that a business person can approach the challenges in any business in a humorous and informative way), Matthew has caught the writing bug and his next business book; “The Bravest Thing I Ever Saw” is well under way.
Matthew lives with his wife Wendy and young daughter Daisy, just outside Edinburgh and enjoys powerboating, fishing, shooting, cooking, camping, walking, travel, scuba diving, motorcycling and running. He says a person cannot have too many hobbies. In order to keep fit, Matthew is an active member of the East Lothian Boxing Club in Haddington and enjoys the occasional sparring and great exercise that this gives, Matthew is also on the steering committee of the East Lothian Club. Recently Matthew organised and fought in a charity boxing event, including a black tie dinner and dance with a charity auction. The event raised over £17,000 for charity. This year’s event is along the same lines, but with Matthew providing stand up comedy, and the target is £20,000!!!
Matthew is also proud to be an ambassador for the John Thornton Young Achiever’s Foundation, a great charity which helps talented young people to achieve their ambitions and climb as high as they can dream.
