Former Scotland and British & Irish Lion rugby union player
Scott is Scotland’s most capped rugby ‘centre three-quarter’ with 65 caps. He played in 51 Internationals with his brother Gavin and they are the only brothers to have played on two British & Irish Lions Tours to Australia in 1989 and to New Zealand in 1993.
What the audience can expect
Scott undertakes numerous speaking engagements and motivational seminars for blue chip companies. His main focus of his seminars is developing teamwork and leadership in corporate environments. He draws comparisons from playing International sport to his own business career in advertising and PR. He uses VT to illustrate the dynamics used in team sport and shows how these dynamics are similar to those used in day to day business.
From communication to planning, Scott presents a compelling case on how we all react under different pressures within the workplace. He is happy to speak to senior managers in developmental workshops or at sales conferences and events as a motivational speaker.
Other areas of focus include common purpose planning (CPP); a unique model developed by Scott. CPP recognises the importance of an organisation’s goal and the personal aspirations of the individual members of that organisation. In turn that helps develop a culture of common understanding, desire and energy.

Presentation Approach
Scott is a dynamic speaker who uses clips of VT to highlight his work and he is happy to mingle with his audience to ensure 100% attention. Humour is also an essential ingredient! He is equally at home explaining the issues of change management, responsibility and accountability. Where possible, Scott likes to ensure that he engages with you the client prior to speaking so that points raised resonate with his audience. This also keeps Scott on his toes!
Broadcasting and television commentary – have a go?
Scott also draws on his television broadcasting experience and in 2015 he commentated at his 5th Rugby World Cup with ITV having played in the first three Rugby World Cup tournaments in 1987, 1991 & 1995.
In 2013 he commentated at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow and at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014. He has also appeared on various television programmes including BBC Question Time, BBC Question of Sport and Celebrity Eggheads!
Scott is a regular commentator on the HSBC Sevens World Series and continues to work on the coverage of the Pro14 with BBC Alba and Sky Sports and during the 6 Nations with ITV Sport. Occasionally Scott challenges his audiences to try their hand at commentating. There’s more to it than meets the eye!
Finally, Scott also runs the sports and events business Hi Events Ltd and is a regular columnist for The Times Scotland newspaper.
