From Keynotes in Kampala to Presentations in Perth Andy has built up a reputation as someone who really understands and connects with people. He’s been called “better than alcohol” by an attendee at a conference and the “Country’s Leading Inspirational Speaker” by the BBC. He’s worked with judges and offenders, teachers and pupils, entrepreneurs, civil servants and church ministers as a coach, teacher and mentor.
Born in Scotland in 1961, just a few days before Yuri Gagarin blasted off to become the first human to leave Earth, Andy soaked up that decade’s spirit of adventure and optimism and in the years that followed set out to discover as much as he could about world he lived in. Yet it wasn’t in the Mountains of the Himalaya, Africa or Europe, all of which he’s worked in, nor leading an expedition to Ski the giant sand dunes of the Sahara Desert where he found the real adventure but in the day to day activities we mostly take for granted. He has been able to “turn around” the fortunes of individuals, businesses and other organisations precisely because he understands what extraordinary lives ordinary people live. Andy makes a simple observation “never underestimate the influence that one person can have on another. What we do everyday matters”. Andy has worked with Sky TV, Diageo, Scottish Enterprise, Columbia University, The British Council, Fortnum and Masons, K2 Skis, RBS and Radio One among many others.

What the audience can expect
An incredibly talented improvisor Andy can deliver, to your brief, a presentation that is totally “up to the minute”. His skill is in mixing signature stories, that days headline news with the key messages of your conference or event. And then he blends them with insights taken from conversations with delegates, sometimes just minutes before he is due to speak, into a totally unique and spellbinding presentation. Andy lives by the maxim “you have to practice a lot to make it look really easy”.
Presentation Approach
Andy has a lot of fun with his audience. He delivers though provoking content, with equal amounts of flare, panache and self deprecating humour and he will work with the event organiser and often other presenters to unsure the best possible result for the audience. Andy will use props, music and even dance but only when it is useful in delivering key messages.
