When Matt Bryant, our Head of New Sales, met Robert Aitken on Rose Street in Edinburgh one Saturday night, he was so impressed at the way he was helping the homeless without a thought for himself, he shared a photograph. This photograph was then shared an amazing 88,000 times and Robert found himself on the sofa with Philip and Holly on the ITV show “This Morning”.
Robert has now found a new vein of support for his selfless actions with the homeless of Edinburgh and we at Future Sales Factory contacted his bosses at EE to offer him a free place on one of our courses.
At the same time, Matt came up with the idea of helping Robert even more and he managed to convince our Managing Director, Matthew Quinn, to team up with Trespass Outdoor stores in Edinburgh to create a credit line at Trespass on Frederick Street so he could buy equipment like sleeping bags and waterproof mats to make these homeless people more comfortable at night.
Trespass have been wonderful about this, as have EE, Robert’s employers and we will be following his progress over the next few weeks as he hands out his gifts to people who have fallen on hard times.
Please support Robert by trying to make this photo go viral as well, and watch for updates as time goes on.
This is a problem that will not go away and it is people like Robert that really make a difference in this world with his wonderful attitude to life and the fact that he never wants anything in return.
Robert is shown below with Matthew and Ian from Trespass with a pile of sleeping bags as a first stage in our help.
We are also delighted to hear that Robert has been nominated for a local hero award, we’ll be voting for him…. will you?
